What are cookies?
A cookie is, of course, a biscuit, but on the internet it’s something completely different.
When you access our website, a small piece of text called a “cookie” is stored in your browser. This text contains a variety of information about your browsing, habits, preferences, personalised content, etc.
There are other technologies that work in a similar way and which also are also used to compile data on your browsing activity. We will call all these technologies “cookies”.
The specific uses we make of these technologies are described in this document.
What are cookies used for on this website?
Cookies are an essential part of how our website works. The main aim of our cookies is to improve your browsing experience. For example, to remember your preferences (language, country, etc.) during browsing and on future visits. The information collected in the cookies allows us also to improve the website, adapt it to your interests as a user, speed up the searches you make, etc.
In certain cases, if we have obtained your prior, informed consent, we will be able to use cookies for other things, such as obtaining information that allows us to show you advertising based on an analysis of your browsing habits.
What are cookies NOT used for on this website?
The cookies we use do not store sensitive personal identification information, such as your name or address, your password, etc.
Who uses the information stored in the cookies?
The information stored in the cookies on our website is used exclusively by us except for those identified below as “third-party cookies”, which are used and managed by external bodies that provide us with services to improve the user experience. For example, the statistics collected about number of visits, the most popular content, etc., are usually managed by Google Analytics.
Third-party cookies are also often used to guarantee internet payment operations.
How can I prevent the use of cookies on this website?
If you prefer to prevent the use of cookies, you can reject their use or configure those you want to block and those you want to allow (in this document we will give you more information about each type of cookie, their purpose, recipients, time before expiry, etc.).
If you have accepted them, we will not ask you again unless you delete the cookies from your device, as indicated in the next section.
If you want to revoke your consent, you will have to delete the cookies and configure them again.
How do I disable and eliminate cookie use?
You can restrict, block or delete cookies from this website (and those used by third parties) at any time by modifying your browser configuration. Bear in mind that this configuration is different in every browser, although cookie configuration is often found on the “Preferences – Tools – Options” menu and then in “Privacy and Security or “Delete Browsing Data”, etc.
For more details about cookie configuration in each browser, see its “Help” menu.
What types of cookie are used on this website?
Every website uses its own cookies. On our website we use the ones set out below:
DEPENDING ON THE MANAGEMENT ORGANISATION
• Own cookies are those sent to the user’s terminal from equipment or a domain managed by the publisher and from which the service requested by the user is managed.
• Third-party cookies are those sent to the user’s terminal from equipment or a domain not managed by the publisher but by another organisation that processes the data obtained from the cookies.
If the cookies are provided from equipment or a domain managed by the publisher but the information they collect is managed by a third party they cannot be considered as own cookies if the third party uses the information for its own ends (for example, improving the services it provided or for the provision of services advertising other organisations).
DEPENDING ON THE PURPOSE
• Technical cookies: are those needed for browsing and the proper operation of our website, such as monitoring traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted areas, remembering the items making up an order, carrying out the process of purchasing an order, managing payment, controlling fraud linked to the security of the service, making a request for registration or participating in an event, counting visits for the purposes of invoicing for licences for the software
that make the service work (website, platform or app), using security elements during browsing, storing content for broadcasting videos or sound, enabling dynamic content (for example animations when text or images are loading), and sharing content over social media.
• Analysis cookies make it possible to quantify the number of users and measure and statistically analyse the use made by users of the service offered. To do this, your browsing activity on our website is analysed in order to improve the products and services we offer you.
• Preference or customisation cookies are those making it possible to remember information so the user can access a service with certain features that can differentiate their experience from that of other users, such as, the language, the number of results to be shown when the user makes a search, and the appearance or content of the service depending on the type of browser with which the user accesses the service or the region from where the services are accessed, etc.
• Behavioural advertising cookies are those which, processed by ourselves or by third parties, allow us to analyse your browsing habits.
DEPENDING ON HOW LONG THEY REMAIN ACTIVATED
• Session cookies: are those designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a website.
They are normally used for storing information that it is only useful to keep for providing the service requested by the user on a single occasion (for example, a list of products purchased), so they disappear at the end of the session.
• Persistent cookies: are those in which data continues to be stored in the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by whoever is responsible for the cookie, ranging from a few minutes to several years.
In this respect, a specific assessment must be made of whether it is necessary to use persistent cookies, as privacy risks can be reduced by using session cookies. In all cases when persistent cookies are installed, it is recommended that their time limit should be as short as possible, depending on the purpose of using them. Along these lines, GT29 Guideline 4/2012 indicated that for a cookie to be exempt from the duty of informed consent, its expiry period must be related to its purpose.
For this reason, session cookies are much more likely to be considered as exempt than persistent ones.
